Today during my morning devotion at 2am I read Genesis chapter 27. It's a about Rebekkah and Jacobs scheme to get Esau's blessings! Esau had to reap from his earlier actions while Jacob had to pay for his deeds later in life! But God allowed it, it was His permissive will!! Why then did He allow it?I can't figure out how many times God has worked centrally to my expectations. Whatever happens, I am now experiencing the reality of His words in Isaiah 55:8, "my ways are not your ways, neither are my thoughts your thoughts..."
I also read J. Oswald Sanders book on Spiritual leadership.I was struck by some ways he shares on investigating one's potential. From His book, I picked on the following questions.
Have you ever broken a bad habit?
Do you keep self control when things go wrong?
Do you think independently?
Can you handle criticism?
Can you turn disappointment in to creative new opportunity?
Do you readily gain the cooperation of others and win their respect and confidence?
Are you a peace maker?
Do people trust you with difficult and delicate situations?
Can you induce people to do happily some legitimate thing that they would not normally wish to do?
Can you accept opposition to your view point or decision without taking offenses?
Can you make and keep friends?
Are the people who report to you generally at ease?
Are you interested in People?
Now, these and some more questions from the same writer have spoken directly to me. I think it awakens my constant desire to develop my leadership skills. Thank you Lord for speaking to me today. I can best be a leader in your making.
For sure, God is not interested in what I can do for Him but in what He wants to do in me first!!
